Demon Oak

Before you go

You need level 80 and a poison dagger. The dagger is the tool for the whole quest - it is what you cut the trees with. Bring one and do not lose it.

Only one player at a time can be inside. If someone else is in there, the dead tree will tell you to wait.

Getting in

Find the dead tree at position 32716, 32339, 7 - just north of the walled grove. Use the poison dagger on it and you are taken inside.

The wall around the grove has no gate. The tree is the only way in, and it stays there for the next player, so nothing is consumed by going in. If you die inside you can come back and try again.

The Demon Oak

The tree stands in the middle of the grove, around 32716, 32351. It is large - it covers several tiles - and you can strike any part of it.

Use the poison dagger on the tree. It takes 48 hits to fell. Every sixth hit the oak calls for help and a wave of demons, beholders and banshees appears around you - eight waves before it goes down. The tree also lashes back on roughly half your strikes for around 300 damage.

The counter is shown in the console every time a wave arrives, so you always know how far you are.

Bring supplies for a long fight, not a quick one. The mud inside the grove hurts too, so standing still is a slow way to lose health.

When the tree falls you are thrown out of the grove.

The reward

Go to the grave at 32710, 32398, 7 and use it. It takes you down into the vault, where four chests wait. You may open only one:

Pick carefully. The other three will be empty for you forever, and the quest cannot be repeated.
