Rare Items
What is it?
Part of the gear dropped by monsters comes upgraded. Such an item gets a prefix in its name, a boosted stat and its own colour. The upgrade belongs to that one copy — it stays with it forever, survives logout and you can sell it to another player on the market.
How does it work?
What counts is the player who killed the monster. Right after death every item in the corpse is rolled separately — so one monster can leave several upgraded things at once. A hit is announced above your character and in the log:
Rare drop: Epic plate armor (+3 armor)!
Only gear with a combat stat is rolled. Coins, ammunition and things without attack, defense or armor are skipped.
Important: in your backpack and in the corpse the item looks ordinary — the client protocol does not send per-copy names. You will see the upgrade after clicking look on the item, or in the tooltip on a character profile.
